Ken and Cindy

Ken's love affair with farming began as a child in Marysville, Washington picking fresh produce from the fields in the summers. He studied forestry and agricultural in high school, going on to a forestry program at Washington State University. In spite of following a non-farming career path for many years, Ken never lost touch with his love of farming. The opportunity to take on a roadside Farm Stand is an expansion of Terrapin Farms that Ken has envisioned for a long time.

Cindy grew up in Marin County, California, and moved to Kitsap County in January of 2002. She was raised surrounded by plants and gardens due to her mother's incredible green thumb. As an adult, Cindy returned to college and graduated in 2005 with a Bachelor's of Arts in Environmental Studies from Antioch University in Seattle. Her area of interests are small environmentally sustainable family farms and community engagement in buying local and fresh produce.

In May of 2006 Cindy and Ken met while both working at Starbucks HQ in Seattle and commuting on the same ferry. By that September Cindy was working the Kingston Farmer's Market with Ken. The next Spring she grew produce in her Kingston property greenhouse for Terrapin Farms, a practice which continues today. Ken and Cindy now work Terrapin Farms together, on top of full time jobs. The love of fresh produce runs deeply enough in both that in June 2009 a 5 day visit to Mendocino County, California, was entirely planned around visits to local Farmer's Market's.
